Forest and Nature or Outdoor school, is an educational approach that has existed since the 1950s worldwide. It is play-based, child-led, emergent, where the learning takes place outdoors in a natural setting. Participants visit the same woodland regularly over an extended time, through all kinds of weather and all seasons.
Being outdoors encourages imaginative play, creativity, hand-eye coordination, balance, physical strength, mental clarity, and a relationship to the land.

“Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea,

drink the wild air.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson
